A few years ago I was walking through the streets of York, England, and I thought to myself, "I wonder what it would be like to live here..."

Welcome to nick-in-england.livejournal.com.This blog is a special one that I have created specifically to chronicle not only my travels through England and the rest of the United Kingdom, but also to document my preparation as well.

I am an American student at the Uninversity of California, Santa Cruz studying Linguistics, and after applying to the UC Education Abroad Program back in December of 2005, I was admitted to the University of York, England for the 2006-2007 academic year where I plan to study Phonetics and Language Variation under the department of Language and Linguistic Sciences.

This blog is mostly directed at my family and friends so that they have an easy way to keep up on me and make sure I'm okay. It's also so that I can have this chronicled somewhere because I find writing in a physical journal too tedious, and it furthermore stands to aid others who may be making the same journey now or in the future. If you are also a studying abroad in the UK, feel free to friend me--I'd love to hear about your experiences too.
